Cruise of the Marchesa to Kamschatka and New Guinea with Notices of formosa, Liu-Kiu & Various Islands of the Malay Archipelago,London, John Murray, printed by R&R Clark of Edinburgh, 1889, 2nd Edition, 14 maps (most are colored; some are folding), 28 full page black and white plates and 111 woodcut text illustrations in the text 8vo (6 7/8 x 9 1/4 in - 17 x 23 cm), 455 pp, blue decorative cloth, gold lettering. The account of a British natural history expedition (focus on birds) aboard a 420 ton auxiliary screw schooner yacht the Marchesa from January 1882 through April 1884. Includes two chapters on "Liu-Kiu" (Ryukyu Islands - Okinawa).
