Illustrated Japanese book on the Sino-Japan War, Japanese language and format reading from back to front, published in Meiji 27 (1894), large 12mo (6 3/4 x 9 1/4 in - 174 x 23.7 cm), plain paper in folded sheets, spine not covered, string ties, 2 pages of manuscript Japanese text at front, 16 color illustrations (color woodblocks?), 6 pages of printed Japanese text, colophon followed by sketch map, 22 printed pages of adverting at the rear (these pages are thin paper and not folded), a total 28 pages of text and illustrations including the two loose items but excluding the advertising. Inserted loose in the book is a lithographed color folding map and a folding color plate. I believe that all the color illustrations are woodblock prints.
