The Wonderful Wizard of Oz
1900 First Edition - Second State

Baum, Frank
Denslow, W.W. (Illustrations):
The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, Chicago & New York, Geo. M. Hill Co., 1900 (Copyright 1899), 8vo, 24 + 1 color illustrations include the title page, 261 pp. This book is the second state where errors in the first state have been corrected.

Condition. The book is in Poor condition - perhaps best used as a breaker/repair book. I believe that the book is complete. The spine covering is completely missing and the covers are heavily soiled with significant scraping. The binding is weak but, aside from the three detached plates, there are no loose pages. The 24 color plates may not all be in correct position. This is particularly so for the 3 detached plates (see listing below) and two plates at the very end of the book. There is no plate after page 80. There is a tipped in plate on back of page 261 followed by two multi-color plates. The last two plates face to the back and the last plate is inverted. There is pencil lining on approximately 20 pages. I believe that it could be removed quite easily.
