• Thicker paper.
• Additional color woodblock plates.
• Enhanced color woodblock plates:
  1. Paintings on silk are reproduced on silk, those on paper are reproduced on paper. In the standard edition, all reproductions are on paper.
  2. Paintings and screens are often framed in silk brocade, which is absent in the standard edition.
• Covers are silk brocade on hard cover in in the deluxe edition, cotton over hard cover or paper soft cover for the standard edition.
• Different wrappers (folding cases) are used for deluxe versions and regular versions of the same book.

The title page for the books does not indicate whether the edition is a standard edition or a deluxe edition.
